About Insurance:
At Sweeney Eye Associates, we’re dedicated to helping you understand your insurance coverage, especially when it comes to elective procedures like LASIK and Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). Elective procedures are typically those that are not deemed medically necessary but are chosen by patients to improve their quality of life or address specific vision concerns. Because these procedures are elective, they often fall outside the scope of standard insurance coverage.
Ways to save on elective services:
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or Health Savings Accounts (HSAs): Even if insurance doesn’t cover elective procedures, you may be able to use funds from an FSA or HSA to pay for these services. These accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for qualifying medical expenses, which can include certain elective procedures.
- Alternative Financing: If insurance coverage isn’t available for your procedure, our team can discuss alternative financing options with you. We understand that affordability is an important consideration, and we’re here to help you explore options that fit your budget.
Our goal at Sweeney Eye Associates is to provide you with clear information and support as you navigate your vision care options. If you have any questions about insurance coverage or payment options, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help!”
Participating Insurance Plans
Sweeney Eye Associates participates with most major insurance plans and will file your medical claim to the participating plan. Sweeney Eye Associates is a Medicare provider; however, we do not participate with all of the Medicare Replacement plans. These plans are not filed to Medicare, nor are they paid by Medicare, so be sure to inform our office that you are no longer on Medicare so we may verify if we participate with your Medicare Replacement plan.
Patient co-pays, deductibles and non-covered service items are collected at the time of service. All surgical fees are collected prior to a scheduled surgery. We ask that you keep us informed of any changes with your insurance plan. If a claim is denied due to incorrect information or termination of benefits, you will be responsible for the charges incurred. If you have questions regarding your current medical or vision plan, or to inquire if we participate with your current insurance plan, please contact our office and ask to speak to our patient account coordinator. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
