Hi, my name is Dr. Vincent Venincasa, and I’m one of the refractive cataract surgeons and glaucoma specialists at Sweeney Eye Associates.
We’re excited to offer a new treatment option for your glaucoma patients — especially those who have been using prescription eye drops for months or even years.
As you know, eye drops can be difficult for patients to use consistently. They often cause irritation, and many patients struggle with long-term adherence. In fact, recent studies show that glaucoma drops are only used as prescribed about 50% of the time.
That’s why we’re now offering a new procedure at Sweeney Eye Associates that improves compliance, reduces drop-related discomfort, and provides sustained intraocular pressure control.
This new solution is the iDose® implant.
The iDose is a tiny reservoir of prostaglandin analog medication, delivered through a quick, minimally invasive 5-minute procedure. It releases medication continuously over 3 to 4 years, every day and every minute — eliminating the need for daily eye drops.
By delivering a steady release of medication, the iDose helps reduce fluctuations in eye pressure and ensures consistent treatment without the need for patient intervention.
This procedure can be performed:
- Before cataract surgery
- At the time of cataract surgery
- Or after cataract surgery
Following the procedure, patients can return to your care for regular monitoring — now with improved compliance and comfort.
Please feel free to contact us for more information. We look forward to collaborating with you to provide the highest quality of care for your glaucoma patients.
